Leontine Specker Turhal has served as the Senior Resilience Advisor in UNDP Turkey since 2017. Leontine co-chairs the 3RP in Turkey with UNHCR as senior inter-agency coordinator and provides substantive oversight and quality control for the UNDP Syria Crisis Response and Resilience Programme. Throughout her career with the UN, Leontine Specker Turhal has served in multiple countries to contribute to crisis response and recovery operations following national and conflict related disasters. The primary focus of her work has been on crisis response, employment, livelihoods, reintegration of ex-combatants, displacement and migration. Leontine has more than 15 year of experience in development and crisis recovery settings in various capacities, including management, inter-agency coordination, partnerships, resource mobilization and programme management.
Before joining the UN, Leontine worked as research associate with the Conflict Research Unit of Clingendael- the Netherlands Institute for International Relations- focussing on policy-oriented research for the Stabilization Unit of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Leontine Specker Turhal holds two master degrees, an LLM on Public International Law from Leiden University (Netherlands) and a Master of Professional Studies in International Relations and Human Rights from Auckland University (New Zealand).
